Blood Harmony
The arrival of my first grandchild a few weeks ago has shifted my perspective in a most beautiful way. I’ve found myself reflecting on family ties, the legacies we leave behind, and the generations yet to come. This week’s thread set captures these thoughts—songs about family connection, continuity, and the threads that bind us across time. We feature Joan Armatrading, Zach Gill and Jack Johnson, James Taylor, Hall and Oates, Sly and the Family Stone and we close out the set with a Prince classic.
Our second set pays tribute to October birthdays worth celebrating: the incomparable Tom Petty, Joe Egan of Stealers Wheel fame, the legendary Manfred Mann, and the late, great Brent Mydland. Each left their mark on the soundtrack of our lives.
And finally, as always, I’m closing with artists who deserve a place in your rotation—bands you might not know yet, but absolutely should. 2/3 Goat continues the theme of family and we also feature Delta Moon, Hughes Taylor, Jacelyn Holmes and close out with a tune from Jana Pochop. Consider this your musical discovery of the week.
